The day we published our first cookbook, was a very proud day for Emu Ink. Not only is the book packed full of delicious recipes and fabulous photos and drawings – it is a wonderful representation of the 24+ nationalities that are in that school.

Each recipe is one brought forward by a pupil and many of them originate from the child’s native country – several are written in the native language and also translated into English, for everyone to enjoy.

Working with that school, on that book, was an absolute pleasure and it has been in our plans since, at Emu Ink, to extend the offering to all schools to do the same – but with the support of additional resources.

That’s why, after much planning, we are thrilled to announce that we are joining forces with The Cool Food School (https://www.thecoolfoodschool.ie/), which promotes healthy eating in a fun and interactive environment for children of all ages.

The school, which is run by Deirdre Doyle, offers in-person as well as online workshops and classes to primary and secondary schools, that focus on healthy eating and an introduction to it, through fun activities and hands-on workshops.

As part of the collaboration with Emu Ink, any school that signs up to produce a cookbook with us, will get access to the members’ area of our website and a FREE bank of resources to support the creation of a school cookbook. These resources include exclusive online workshops for students to follow in class or at home, as well as recipes and other helpful material to get their creative juices flowing!

Deirdre says of the partnership, “I’m delighted to have teamed up with Emu Ink to help get kids in the kitchen by encouraging them to create their own recipes so that they can become published cookbook authors.

“Having just written my first children’s cookbook, I know just how much fun it can be (as well as being a lot of work!).

“Cooking can be such fun and if the end result is not only something delicious to eat but also a cookbook to be proud of, then I think Emu Ink is on to a winner!”

If you are interested in your school producing a cookbook, whether it’s for a primary school fundraiser or a Transition Year project, we have resources for all levels – and not only will your pupils get to publish their work, they will take part in something that enhances wellbeing, celebrates diversity and creates lasting (and very tasty!) memories.
